Protection through friendship

Hebrew 3:12-14
Theme : ACCOUNTABILITY

In Christian Life , it’s very important to have accountability .

We always need someone’s help to encourage us when we fall or struggle in daily life .

*Conditions for accountability*:

1 . Daily frequency

Hebrews 3:13 – But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Hebrews 3:13 NIV

We must Encourage our brothers/sisters on daily basis .

2. Openness / truthfulness

1 John 1:7-9 – we should be open to our accountable partner

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

 1 John 1:7‭-‬9 NIV

3.  Confidentiality

proverbs 11:13

A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.

 Proverbs 11:13

We should be careful when our are partner shares his/her personal things . We need to have a trustworthy person to keep our secrets shared safe. We must Pray for their struggles and weekness, while not disclosing it to others.

4. Mutual accountability

Matt 7:4-5

we need to be accountable to each other. It may be a married man to another married man . Single man to single man , same goes with women . Identify a person whom you want to be accountable

The Bible says, “How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”

5. Don’t be harsh

(gal 6:1 )

restore gently . Don’t be harsh

If someone is caught in a sin, we who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

Just like David and prophet Nathan – King David is accountable to Nathan but it’s very hard a person who is king . The same will happen with us, it’s very hard .

It’s a slow fade –

We need to have an accountability partner to share the struggle . We need to encourage and help each other .

We have many softwares to send report to your accoutability partner what ever we are doing on the mobile phones and the websites we are visiting .

Have a accountable partners to lead a successful spiritual life.
