End Times – What Should Our Response Be?

End Times – What Should Our Response Be?

Bro. Mohan

The Bible says “Be holy for I am holy.”

Two years ago, I started looking into the Scripture about the end times.  I have been studying the current trends to see how it fits into what the Bible has already spoken.

In Sept 2014, we saw the emergence of ISIS.  Why is this significant for us?  Why do they want to establish the caliphate?  Have you heard of the Mahidi (12th Imam)?  The Mahidi is the Anti-Christ.  Iran’s president declared clearly on the hallowed grounds of United Nations saying, “We are building the nuclear bomb.  The very second it is built, we want to destroy Israel using it.”  Someone asked him, “But Mr. President, your nation will also be wiped out with it.”  Without a pause, the president replied, “Then our nation will embrace death happily as a sacrifice to Allah.”  The 12th Imam is destined to come in only when the world is in chaos.  Baghdadi declares himself to be 8th Imam.  We are just witnessing the second largest human migration ever in history, with millions of refugees fleeing across Syria into Europe.  Hungary is closing its borders to stop the inflow of refugees.  They are now going to erect a 15m fence all along its border.  The Christian heritage of Europe is going to be lost if the Muslims migrate in large numbers.  ISIS has got the world’s brainiest guys working for them.  They want to establish the kingdom in preparation for the Mahidi.

So why should I be bothered or concerned?  Because the bible talks about Israel all the time!  It all started in the Middle-East, and it will end in the Middle-East.

Zach 14:1-12 - Behold, a day is coming for the Lord, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east and the Mount of olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half shall move southward. On that day there shall be no light, cold or frost. And there shall be a unique day which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but an evening time there shall be light. On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one. And there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction, Jerusalem shall dwell in security.  And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem; Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

This looks like a nuclear bomb. It seems that God will use the same nuclear bomb which Iran is making to bomb it back.

And on that day a great panic from the Lord shall fall on them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other. Even Judah will fight in Jerusalem and the wealth of all the surrounding nations shall be collected, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance. And a plague like this plague shall fall on the horses, the mules, the camels, the donkeys, and whatever beasts may be in those crops.  Then everyone who survives of all the enemies that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of booths. And if any of the families of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the king, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them.

We don’t know when that day is coming. But one thing we can do…

2 Peter 3:1-3 - Dear friends, this is my second letter. I have written because they are reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.  First you must understand scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

All sin is belittling God.  All sin is demeaning God.  So at the end of time, belittling and demeaning of God will increase.  They will scoff at the second coming of Christ.  They will scoff at creation (preferring to believe in theories of evolution) but they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s Word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.  They will follow their own sinful desires (The LGBTQ community, legalizing gay marriage, etc., are clear examples of these) They are scoffing at these three pillars of our faith, creation, second coming, and judgment day.

Remember that God has a plan and a purpose. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise.

Rev 6:9 - How long sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? They were told to wait a little longer, until the number of fellow servants who are to be martyred are fulfilled.

Many are predicting the world will end on such and such a day.  Many such predictions have come to be proved as false, as the world did not end as predicted.  We are not called to predict days, but we are called to be mindful of the times.  The bible is clear about what our response should be as we know the end is approaching.

2 Peter 3:11-18 - Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.  We are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. Make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Also be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus.
